ESR 13 , Mr. Amir Zilic implemented 2 outreach activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina aiming to underline the contribution of scientific knowledge and new technologies to the socio- economic development of the society.
On the 31st of March 2017 approximately 200 high school graduates of the “Musa Cazim Catic” school in Tesanj participated in Mr Zilic’ s outreach activity. He presented the European Union idea as a “Union of Innovation” and focused on the “HORIZON 2020” EU framework and in particular on the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions and the Innovative Training Networks (ITN). He used the IPPAD project as an example to explain how an MSCA-ITN project actually works and he gave an overview of the IPPAD research topics, the motivation and the final goals of the project. This way he managed to create awareness among the 18-year-olds about the research work performed in the MSCA’s and its implications for citizens.
On the 5th of April 2017 Mr Zilic visited the University of Sarajevo, where he had the opportunity to emphasize on the technical part of the IPPAD project, as his audience consisted of approximately 150 students of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty. Mr Zilic presented the importance of computer simulations that can be used in the Computational Fluid Dynamics field, explaining how these tools can provide better results in solving technical problems. He gave specific examples of the CFD area, e.g. spray simulation, combustion, car aerodynamics and environmental flows and made a short description of a research methodology that is commonly used. The overall aim of the presentation was to motivate students to pursue research oriented careers.
